Gallery on the Grand is holding a “Meet the Artist” reception, open to the public, to introduce the work of 3 local artists who are new to the gallery: Eldon Leis, Bianca D’Angelo, and Janice Longeway. The artists will be present to show their work and answer any questions. Date: Friday, June 21, 2002 Eldon is a local artist, who grew up in Doon across from the Homer Watson Gallery. He was fascinated by painting from his first visit to the gallery at 6, and used whatever paints he could find, until at 12, his parents bought him his first set of artist’s paints! Eldon’s restful oils on canvas or board are of local landscapes and places of interest. Bianca is from Cambridge. On receiving her first art book on Van Gogh at the age of 8, she was drawn to painting. Her canvases depict warm sweltering reds and oranges against the cool stark white and ice blue of the sun-baked stucco of the Mediterranean. She also brings this style to some local scenes. Janice is an artist born in and recently returned to Waterloo. Her paintings attempt to convey her adoration of nature’s perpetual power on the soul and its mystery in all things. Her works are vivid and include “Totally Sky”, “Beach”, “Red Shore”, and “Turmeric”. Gallery on the Grand is a destination gallery featuring unique art, accessories and custom framing. It’s located at 220 King Street North, Waterloo, in the plaza behind Stanley’s burgers, one block south of King and University. Gallery hours are 11 to 6 p.m. Mon - Wed, 11 to 8 p.m. Thurs – Fri, and 11 to 5 p.m. Sat. |
